Edenpure Portable Heater: Likes And Dislikes
Before I tell you what’s not to like about the Edenpure quartz infrared heater, I’d like to spend a minute telling you what I do like, and explain how it works.
How the EdenPure Works At the heart of these infrared heaters are the quartz bulbs.
Similar to incandescent lamps, quartz bulbs are formed by enclosing a tungsten resistance wire within a high purity quartz sheath.
They provide even, non drying floor to ceiling heat and, according to the manufacturer, reduce positive ions in the atmosphere responsible for many respiratory problems.
The bulbs are rated to last 5 – 7,000 hours, or 3 – 5 years, and cost around each to replace.
The Edenpure/SunTwin (I can’t tell the difference) heaters are offered in 3 sizes: 500, 1,000, and 1,500 watt and the unit model numbers coincide with the heat output in watts. So a SunTwin 1500 Elite produces 1,500 watts.
The heaters are

Electric “portable fireplaces” are basically an electric heater with a fancy decoration.
IF your propane heater is a ducted type, (found on larger motor homes,) the electric heater will NOT be as efficient at heating the entire home, but will work well in a “limited” area, in part depending on how well the home is insulated.
I assume you are NOT running a generator to supply power. If you are using a generator, then the propane heater is cheaper to run as well as more efficient “overall”.

Is it more economical to use portable oil-filled electric heaters than the large built-in baseboards?
Question by Dartagnan: Is it more economical to use portable oil-filled electric heaters than the large built-in baseboards?
Electric rates have skyrocketed in my area and I only heata few rooms in the house and only in the evening. I think a small electric portable oil-filled radiator would be cheaper to operate than heating up the large baseboard heater. I am wrong or right? Would love to save some money somehow. Thanks for your answers

Would it be cheaper to use electric baseboard heat or portable heaters to heat a studio in the winter?
Question by Anna: Would it be cheaper to use electric baseboard heat or portable heaters to heat a studio in the winter?
I will be living in a third floor studio (about 400 sq. feet) in Chicago. The management has recently installed electric baseboard heat, therefore I was not able to get price quotes, before signing the lease. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with electric baseboard heat and how much it costs during the winter months? What would be a cheaper alternative? I signed a lease for a year – so I would not be able to make any major changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kerosene heaters, propane heaters, or prefeerably natural gas heaters. Just have a vent for the exhaust.
Electric baseboard heaters are energy inefficent.
Electric is the most expensive source of energy.
And baseboard heating is even worse.

is it cheaper to use electricty to have my wall heater on or to plug in a portable heater?
Question by anonymity: is it cheaper to use electricty to have my wall heater on or to plug in a portable heater?
It is so cold out and I am curious to know if it costs more to run my (not gas) wall heater or to purchase a portable heater. I really want to purchase one of the electric fireplaces that home depot sells, just wondering if it would help save my power bill.
Thank you
I am in Seattle

Every area is different I would use the wall heater and check the first bill and then try the plug in and see if its less expensive.

Looking For Heat On The Go? Try Portable Heating
Every home should have some kind of heater or heating system installed. Winters seem to be getting a whole lot colder as the years progress and our lives are becoming a lot busier as well. If you have not considered the concept before, it might be time to start thinking about portable heating, especially in places where winter has become unbearable, or when there are places you need to go where you know the heating is not appropriate for the conditions, or where there is no warmth at all.
Think about some of the places you have been recently and decide if you could have been warmer than what you were. Think about your level of comfort when your toes and fingers have gone numb with the cold. Portable heating will allow you to take your heat with you, and the situations you have just thought about will become a distant memory. The best thing about these systems is that you can use them when you need them, take them where you need

Baseboard Heaters: Portable or Built-in?
Baseboard Heaters: Portable or Built-in?
As the cold season begins to set in, it is important to be well prepared. For years, people have looked to electric heaters to keep them and their families warm, during the cold months. Yet purchasing a heater can be confusing sometimes. Whether it be wall, space or baseboard it is important to purchase the right kind of heater the suits you. The first rate staff at Air-N-Water have been researching and testing multiple heaters and have posted their results online.
Base Board Heaters
Electric baseboard heaters are heaters designed to line the wall and provide heat for the entire room by using convection heat to circulate the air. As the baseboard heater heats the immediate air, it begins to rise and the cold air begins to fall to the floor, only to be immediately heated and continue this
