Q&A: Heating a cold appartment with radiant dish heater?
Question by Chris: Heating a cold appartment with radiant dish heater?
All of our electric baseboard heaters are located right under the windows. And because of our humidity problem we have to keep the windows open a bit.
So the heaters are always on at the coldest places in the house. I would think this would make them run more and use more energy.
At work we got one of those small dish radiant heaters from Costco. I read the box it came in and it says it uses way less energy then other electric heaters.
Would it make more sense to get one of those and put in the living room farther away from the windows?
What do you think?

if you have too much humidity invest in a dehumidifier if you don’t have enough get a humidifier that way you can just close the windows.

Instructions For Installing A Tankless Water Heater
Instructions For Installing A Tankless Water Heater
While the process of installing a tankless water heater isn’t too difficult it is very different from the process of installing a standard tank water heater. The process is more in depth for a tankless water heater system. It is very important that you read through all the instructions and follow them exactly as they are outlined. This is for the safety and security of your home and your family.
Before you start you need to make sure you have sufficient space for the tankless water heater you will be installing. While they do take up considerably less room than a tank style water heater you still need to verify you have enough clearance room for it. The unit also can’t be touching a wall so you may need to install brackets. You will need to make sure it is not installed around any flammable surface at the outer part of the water heater will get very hot.
You need to make sure you are upgrading to a tankless water heater that operates
Natural Gas Water Heater Benefits Include Maintaining a Steady Supply
Natural Gas Water Heater Benefits Include Maintaining a Steady Supply
When it comes to a clean burning fuel source to supply your hot water requirements as well as a quick recovery time, a natural gas water heater can certainly take care of your needs. Typically when you use hot water, as cold water enters the tank it activates the thermostat to ignite the flame and heat additional water. The recovery time is shortened by this process, because the water heater will be heating the water as it enters into the tank. It is not limited to waiting for the tank to be low.
One of the tricks of not completely running out of hot water for your own personal use is to have a water heater that is large enough to meet the peak demands of your household. For example, a family of five in which everybody takes a shower at roughly the same time of the day, might need a 100 gallon tank, or more. On the other hand a family of two in all likelihood can get by with a 40 gallon natural gas water heater.

Solar Water Heater – Increasing In Usage And Recognition Throughout The World
Solar Water Heater – Increasing In Usage And Recognition Throughout The World
Solar water heaters are comprised of a primary collector that accumulates solar energy and a storage tank that is insulated that collects hot water. Depending on the system that the collector uses, the solar water heater might be one of two different kinds that is based on either Flat Plate Collectors or based on Evacuated Tube Collectors.
Two Primary Types
The Flat Plate Collector solar water heater permits solar radiation to be assimilated by the flat plate collectors that are constructed of an insulated outer metallic box that has a glass sheet covering the top. Inside the box are metallic absorber sheets that are black and that have channels that are incorporated or rise tubes to transport the water. The flowing water is then heated once the absorber assimilates the solar radiation and then transfers heat to the flowing water.
The solar water heater that is chiefly based on Evacuated Tube Collectors has a

Question by B S: wiring a two wire wall heater with a Hunter 40035a Thermostat?
Do i need the jumper wire in place?
Ok so now with just one wire white and one grey what letter are these suppose to be connected to? W Y G A or R/H R/C?
Best answer:
Answer by gizmoe
I assume your talking about the RH and RC jumper.
RH is the power for heating and RC is the power for cooling.
For heating only there is no need for the jumper but it wont matter either way.
Edit: Grey to RH and white to W

Glo-Warm model WMN20A wall heater pilot light burning incorrect flame?
Question by vinster: Glo-Warm model WMN20A wall heater pilot light burning incorrect flame?
I just bought this unit brand new and am using a correct size 100lb. propane tank with a regulator attached to the tank. The flame on pilot and main burner is too high. Can i adjust this? and how do i do it? I don’t see any pilot adjustments. Can it be the little plastic set screw on my regulator outside? How do i adjust THAT?? I know i can get an allen key and turn it in or out , but which way will give less pressure?
Best answer:
Answer by latenttraveler
For this heater to work correctly you need to adjust the gas pressure to 11 inches of water column with a manometer you should not just try to turn it down
This heater has an ODS (oxygen depletion sensor) type pilot and it will not work correctly if the pressure is off by very much.
One question that I was wondering about: are you sure the heater was made to use LPG, or is it made for natural gas. That would give you the problem you are describing.
BTW if you have to ask which way to turn the regulator perhaps you should be asking “should I’ rather than “how should I”

Gas Hot Water Heater – Common Critical Components
Gas Hot Water Heater – Common Critical Components
Perhaps the most common and easiest way to heat water is by the use of a gas hot water heater, and this might be due to the fact that gas is capable of getting the tank up to operating temperature roughly twice as quickly as its electric counterpart, and the cost is also approximately half as much as electricity would cost.
However, one should make sure that the tank is installed in a safe place and is secured to a strong structure such as a wall in regions that are prone to earthquake, as it minimizes the chance of a gas fire happening by turning off the gas connection in the event it that the tank falls over.
Temperature Pressure Relief Valves
The most important component of a gas hot water heater is a Temperature Pressure Relief (TPR) valve. This device helps to release the pressure from the tank when its reaches the level where it is not safe.

Why is there a strange scent coming from the baseboard heater?
Question by Mrs. Heathcliff: Why is there a strange scent coming from the baseboard heater?
My family and I moved into a 30+year old house over the summer. The former tenants were an 80 year old couple, and we suspect they lived in the downstairs, so the heaters may not have been in use for several years. The problem is, the heaters emit this horrible scent. If I could describe it, it smells of rust and something else. Even with opening windows and turning them on several times, it’s not going away. We have electric baseboard heat in all the rooms, and all give off the same scent. Does anyone know what could be causing this, and how to fix it? We’re renting the house.

Answer by Carl M
yuk, yeah!
If they are electric bace heaters, it is the baked on dust, mildew dead bugs and all the other stuff of the previous owner. Electric base heaters, to me are the worste heat applicators out there. They’re horrible. BUT……they are 100% efficient. You’ve got to find a way to clean off the fins, the little heat radiators, that have been “caked” with dust.

Patio Heater Types
Patio Heater Types
Outdoor living is fast expanding as the British become more European in culture to adopt some of the finer aspects of our European cousins. A popular lifestyle change is to extend the seasons by simply placing a patio heater on the patio. Having conquered America and Europe we now see them appearing all over the British Isles
The various types of patio heaters can be fuelled by coal, gas, wood and electricity, ranging from, fixed/plumbed to free standing, table or wall models and metal basket types.
Due to the ease of use and versatility, the most popular type is the gas free standing patio heater. The main areas to look for when selecting the right type for your use are:
Heat Control. Some models are fitted with just a high and low heat setting. Best to look for variable heat control.
Power Output. This can be listed in KW or BTU/h’s (British Thermal Unit). Best to find out the
