MINIB Trench Heaters – Installation Video

SPC MINIB trench heaters are the perfect solution for distributing heat while preventing condensation in rooms where there are large areas of glass. The floor convectors fit into a trench in the perimeter of a building close to the glass. As well as providing heat to the room they reduce the cold down draught, reducing the risk of condensation. The inconspicuous trench heating systems save valuable space in domestic and commercial premises perfect for rooms where wall space is minimal.

Solar Water Heater Plans – Find Out What The Best Ones Are

Solar Water Heater Plans – Find Out What The Best Ones Are

There really are no top solar water heater plans, as they all encompass their good qualities as well as their bad; however, one of the simplest and most efficient plan that I have came across was the Khanh solar water heater. This was a “make it yourself” item which appeared in the Mother Earth Magazine during June of 1977.

The unit basically was a used 66 gallon hot water tank, which had been coated with stovepipe flat black paint. An inventor named Dinh Khanh designed and built the unit for only 0 dollars. This particular sun powered water heater was about as effortless to construct as you will ever find.

The water tank was enclosed within an insulated framework which was sheltered on the top with a section of Plexiglas. When Khanh bolstered his solar collector adjacent to a southern facing wall, he was able to preheat his water to a tepid 100 degrees. The cost savings to him was substantial and reached as much as 50 percent of his total hot water

Window Heater, makes more heat, can stay all year

youtube}

We made this window heater a few years back. It works great. It is all wood and only have aluminum inside for thermal storage. I need to replace some of the tinfoil. This unit can heat my 590sq/ft mobile home by itself when the temperature outside is above 40 F and the sun is shining. Above 50 F and it will be to hot inside. The temperature inside the unit gets up to 130 F. This unit saved me a lot of money back when I used oil to heat. It has 3 pieces of glass We got from Lowe’s. Each class has a rubber double sided tape type of foam seal. The lead works both to close the unit in the summer and in the winter the aluminum makes the unit produce extra heat. So we don’t have to take it down in the summer. I almost forgot. The wood was all free, yes I recycled it. this play small like wood all winter, so find a wood that smell good to you and use it. I did not paint the sides of the unit black because I do not want it making heat in the summer. That being said, i do need to look at painting it some color, maybe white of blue. The next one I make would have the cross pieces inside painted black. I may go back later and make the unit self closing to prevent airflow at night. This unit is also facing west so it starts making heat around noon. I would add one to the east side but did not have a window there. The south side has trees blocking the sun. This video shows the “Direct to Air” Solar Heater Installation to capture Free Heat from the Sun. This system is an environmentally sustainable green heating solution that will lessen our dependence on fossil fuels and significantly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. For anyone concerned about the environment or if you just want to save money on your heating bills. This is the “Free Fuel” heater – the cost of sunlight never goes up! Once you own the unit, the fuel is free. The system will last for decades providing free heat and environmental benefits. Regardless of what you call the system – solar panels, solar collectors, solar heaters or my favorite – the “Free Heat” Machine, you’ll have to agree that the planet needs these systems if we’re ever going to wean ourselves from fuels like natural gas, propane, heating oil, diesel and other fossil or carbon-based fuels. This system may not be the total solution, but it’s a step in the right direction. It’s affordable and compares to a high efficiency gas furnace in return on investment. That’s right solar heat is now also affordable heats and easily compares to the fossil fuels – even the “cheapest” fossil fuel right now – natural gas. The only difference is that with this solar heater, the price of your fuel never goes up. Solar heating has never been more affordable. Check out the video! my polit light went out on my gas wall heater, where do I light it?

Question by Todd Enterprises, Inc. /: my polit light went out on my gas wall heater, where do I light it?
there is a red button that says pilot I know I push it in to light but where exactly do I put the match? also what color is the flame suppose to be?

Best answer:

Answer by Big_Prichard
There should be an opening towards the bottom of the heater, you want to get that open, look in there with a flashlight and you should be able to see the pilot. (It looks like a little tube; mine has two right next to each other, but only one is the pilot) You want to get a long match and light it with that.

The flame should be blue for the most part (when the pilot is lit)

Replacing Your Hot Water Heater – No Plumber Required

Replacing Your Hot Water Heater – No Plumber Required

If you are replacing the old water heater with a new unit that is similar to the old one, you will not find it very difficult to replace it. Moreover, if you follow the steps below, it will certainly make your task much easier.
– Shut off the water supply
– If you have a gas heater, shut off the gas supply, or if you have an electric heater, turn off the power supply.
– The next step is to drain the water from the tank. If you do not have a floor drain underneath the valve, you can connect a hose to the drain valve, near the base of the tank. Run it to a nearby drain or outdoors, and then open the valve.
– Unscrew the inlet and outlet fittings from the top of the tank, using two wrenches.
– If you have a gas water heater, turn off the gas inlet valve. Disconnect the union or flare fitting between the gas supply pipe and the inlet valve. You can use two wrenches to disconnect the same. You will also find a flue hat at the top of the tank. It expels

landlord was stealing electric and possably oil,NOW the new tenants found out and are realy running up bill?

Question by humananimal_71: landlord was stealing electric and possably oil,NOW the new tenants found out and are realy running up bill?
Hi,

I have been renting the same apartment in Westerly for almost 6 years. All of my utilities are in the basement apartment. I have always had suspicions about the landlord, who until recently was living in the other apartment which includes the basement of the whole house, was stealing electric and oil. the basement contains a kitchen, bathroom, family room, utility room, hallway, and two more rooms all wired to me. I have asked him on a few occasions if there was anything in the basement wired to me because my bill was higher than it should be and he said “no”. Recently after blowing a string of fuses (ironically at the same time the new tenant was doing work on the basement using my power) I discovered that almost all of the lights and outlets in the basement come from my fuse box. I discovered this because when I replaced my fuse (my box is in the tenant’s apartment) a bunch of lights came on. I then got a tester and went around and tested everything. Also I discovered an extra pump on my boiler that still goes to heat in the basement and a hole in the wall where the thermostat was and the wiring (still live) inside. when you touch the wires together the pump kicks on and the radiator starts working (only source of heat in the basement). Previously we had a problem where our heat would not turn off. I told the landlord and he did nothing. I asked around and was told there must be another thermostat in the house. I asked the landlord and he said no. During the period when the landlord was moving out there was a lot of clanking noises and fuel smell coming from the room where my oil tank is. At the same time he had a gas water heater installed.
when the new tenant moved in he had to have the electric baseboard heaters in the basement fixed because it was too cold down there and they never worked. They are 220 heaters that were wired to 110 meaning they were never operational. As far as I can tell presently I am the only one drawing off my oil tank (which is the only one in the house). But the power is still connected to me at this time. I told the landlord about what I found and that I needed to have an electrician look at my power. He didn’t believe me and wanted to see for himself before he would let anyone else in to look. Then after talking to the tenant downstairs to tell him he called me back and pushed it back another day “on the tenants request” .First he said as far as he knew everything had been switched. then a minute later said that he never used the lights in the ceiling because he knew they were wired to me. (so isn’t everything else). when he arrived I showed him by shutting off my main fuse and watching lights go out and testing outlets with a tester. He said “oh now I see”. He said he would give me ” a month and put a lock on my fuse box” I told him that wouldn’t solve the problem and asked him about the almost six years of electric I paid that wasn’t mine. He denied ever using it himself. He said “I’ll rent you the other apartment too so you can get to your fuse box.” Obviously I said this was crazy. Then this being the 2nd of April he asked for the rent. I told him I was going to hold it until this got resolved. He then told me “you will have to move then.” I could go on forever about this there really is a lot.
I really don’t know who to turn to or what my options are.
please let me know if you don’t handle this kind of thing and maybe point me in the right direction.
I am having a really hard time finding anyone to get on my side. I have all bills and records.
i have contacted the local housing athourity, electric co., went to the local building offices, contacted lawyers, the only answer is to handle it myself and take him to small claims court.
I cant believe there is no agency to help!

Answer by Amy
Think I’d have to talk to a lawyer! May want to go ahead and move too! Wouldn’t give that crook another dime! Seems to me that that landlord needs to be sued! Good luck and so sorry that you’re having to deal with such!!!

I have contacted the electric co.,the local housing athourity,I went to the local building offices,I have called lawyers and have gotten no help at all.

Best answer:

Answer by my avatar is hot but I’m not
You honestly could have said this in about 3 sentences… I’ve been paying for all the electric use in a rental complex while the other side isn’t paying anything. ;)

So the bottom line comes down to what your rental agreement says, and if you can prove it by showing there is no other bill arriving at the address for anyone else. If there is, your claim is done. If you’re getting the only bill, I would take that information to an attorney and see what your options are, but don’t hold your breath, by the time you pay for an action you’re better off moving.
