My wall heaters won’t work in multiple rooms and the only thing they share is the same breaker?

Question by KLS10: My wall heaters won’t work in multiple rooms and the only thing they share is the same breaker?
Here’s the deal:
I live in a 1 BDRM condo that has Electric Heat. I have two thermostats – 1 in my main living area that triggers 2 different in-wall heaters, and 1 in my bedroom that triggers a baseboard heater. I came home the other day to find that none of my heat works but all my other electricity does. The only thing I believe that they share is the same breaker circuit. I checked the breaker – its not tripped. I even switched it back and forth and still no heat. I cleaned out my wall heaters in case they were clogged and “pushed reset buttons” on both and still nothing. Is this an electrical issue with my breaker?

Please help?
Also, both my thermostats seem to be working properly because they make a click sound when you switch them to a certain temperature that is warmer than the temp in the room.
Turns out it was a faulty breaker.

sounds like an electrical problem. Either the breaker is bad, or there is some other kind of electric cut off switch in the line.

Does the condo complex have a master breaker that all of the heating units are on?? Did you ask around to see if anyone else has a similar issue?

  • Chris:

Is there power coming from the breaker after you reset it? If so is there power at your thermostat?

Is your thermostat controlled from a transformer? Is the transformer working? Is there a reset button on the transformer? How about a fuse?

Do you have a multi-meter? If not then can you afford to buy one?
